Danone Manifesto Ventures

Disrupting Ourselves with Entrepreneurial Thinking

Through Danone Manifesto Ventures, we are partnering with entrepreneurs who share our vision of a healthy and sustainable future for food and inspire us to embrace disruptive approaches. Since 2016, we have invested in a number of companies bringing unique product concepts and business models that will help us drive forward the Food Revolution.

FRÉDÉRIC VENTRE

Co-founder and CEO of Yooji.

Danone Manifesto Ventures invested in Yooji, a French frozen baby food start-up created in 2012, which sells products sourced from organic farms to more than 600 stores in France.

"Danone was the obvious partner for us.

We created Yooji with the idea that providing high quality, organic food in convenient frozen portions could be a real plus for parents. With an inspiring vision, a focus on health through food and a leader in early life nutrition, Danone was the obvious partner for us. Already we’ve begun several projects to strengthen our industrial, distribution and sales strategy. The relationship brings a real boost to our business. Both sides appreciate what we can learn from each other, even a big company like Danone from a small startup like ours. At Yooji we want to promote our frozen organic offer alongside other baby food formats so that parents have healthy options near to hand as good nutrition ensures healthy development. With Danone, we’re in the right place at the right time to encourage healthy eating habits through a socially responsible and sustainable approach.”

LUKE SAUNDERS

Founder of Farmer’s Fridge, U.S.

In May 2017, Danone Manifesto Ventures invested in Farmer’s Fridge. The company's mission is to provide more accessible, higher quality, fresh, healthy meals by reinventing the supply chain using a vertically integrated production process and a distribution network of proprietary vending machines.

"We were looking for a strategic investor that shared our passion for making healthy food accessible.

Our goal is to make fresh, healthy food more convenient than a candy bar. We’re obsessed about the quality and freshness of our food and put a lot of care into preparing every recipe using whole ingredients. The best part of our product is that consumers can taste the difference, so once they try it they are total believers. We were looking for a strategic investor that shared our passion for making healthy food accessible and that had key expertise in areas relevant to our business – consumer products, logistics and building a great company culture. Danone is health-centric, invests in innovation and truly stands behind sustainability as a business. The Danone Manifesto Ventures team has been a sounding board on everything from long-term strategy and vision to food quality and safety and a great partner to work with. Farmer’s Fridge represents an opportunity for Danone to further engage in the fastest growing retail sector – fresh food.”
